A Better Inhaler

In 2019, I began experiencing sudden allergic reactions that would cause severe nose blockages and throat infections, disrupting my entire week. Upon my doctor's recommendation, I started using an inhaler, which inspired me to develop a smart, connected inhaler.

Project Description

The goal is there are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable.

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.

THE PROBLEM STATEMENT

The pMDIs are most popular due to their small size and unobtrusive nature; however, drug delivery is highly dependent on good inhaler technique and many patients find pMDIs difficult to use correctly:

  • Patients are often unable to coordinate actuation of device and their inhalation.
  • Drug delivery is highly dependent on good inhaler technique.
  • Some pMDIs do not have a dose counter, which makes it difficult to track remaining doses in the device.
  • Forgetting to take dose on time.
  • Unable to review their inspiration techniques (no way to know how to improve)

OUR APPROACH

Asthma is often viewed as a condition that sufferers must endure rather than integrate into their daily lives. Using an asthma inhaler should not evoke feelings of exclusion or embarrassment; instead, it should be seamlessly incorporated into one’s routine. This can be achieved when users feel connected to the product they use, viewing it not merely as a medical device but as a personal item integral to their lifestyle.

The aim is to create an IoT-enabled asthmatic inhaler that seamlessly blends into users' day-to-day lives and addresses common issues faced with traditional inhalers. This smart inhaler will keep users informed about their health, providing a modern, user-friendly solution to asthma management.
